Tough game….

It was another hot game even with the earlier start. The team made the trek to Leeming to take on Bullcreek/Leeming. The music was pumping in the change rooms, as the team prepared but even that was no match for how pumped our coach was.

After a tough first half, where they kept us scoreless. A few motivational words from the coach saw the team come back in the third quarter, after a few directed messages that our runner may have reworded for his safety, the team started to make a comeback. With our pocket rockets chasing down everything and everyone, the ball was moving into our forward. Catherine could be heard loud and clear on the field providing a voice in the back line and is a force to be reckoned with. Our forwards got the ball through the sticks and put us on the board. With pressure, determination and just a little bit of mongrel we held the scoreless to go down 28 – 15 at the final siren.

What a start….

Our women’s team took on the Canning South Perth Tigers on their home turf at Wygong Reserve and after a slow start in the first quarter, the women came together and applied the pressure to come away with the win 23 – 9. The game wasn’t without it’s heart stopping moments, first of all it was hot, really hot…. Huge shout out to the water carriers and trainers, not to mention the runner who had his work cut out for him delivering messages all over the ground. Biggest heart stopping moment was seeing Little Char being stretchered off, she has since let us know nothing is broken and she will be back. With the way the women played you would think they had been playing together for several seasons and whilst that may be the case for some of them, the team is made of the whipper snappers who aren’t playing youth this year, but playing seniors on season permits, to our masters with a wealth of knowledge and giving those young ones a run for their money, to our seniors who have been with the club just about from the beginning and finally to the President who pulled on a jumper for her very first game of football.
